One year, when Rudolph and the gang were all nearing around seven years of age (that\'s the teen years to you and me) they would act out by ringing their bells, stamping their hooves, giggling and rolling their eyes at each other. Santa soon felt their attitudes were just too sassy when they refused to heed his instructions at sleigh pulling practice, or worst yet, not show up at all! With careful deliberation between he and Mrs. Claus, Santa began to devise a new plan to get his team in line. Soon a big colorful sign advertising new positions for the sleigh pulling team was set up right in front of Santa\'s house. Quite soon, the foolish attitudes of the reindeer squad began to temper as the other animals began to arrive. The reindeer now spied around the corners and snooped out of windows. They nudged each other and fear overtook them. The last of the group was the tiny white mouse pulling a thimble loaded with even tinier gifts. Santa had to stifle a giggle at the sight of the tiny one slipping and ending up sprawled on the ice. He gently picked him up and dusted him off and whispered, \"Though you\'re too small for my team, you have a great heart. You can ride with me Christmas Eve, nestled in my coat pocket.\" All of the animals were sad and disappointed they had let Santa down as he wrapped them all in warm blankets and fed them hot chocolate. Soon, however, there was a knock at the door and Santa found eight teary-eyed reindeer hanging their heads low feeling quite ashamed of themselves. \"Please, Santa, \" they implored. \"We\'ve made a mistake and are sorry the other animals had to work so hard at what they really aren\'t made to do. We will practice and listen and work extra hard. Just give us our jobs back, you won\'t be sorry!\" The animals cheered and Santa soon smiled as he was reminded of how loving and big hearted his reindeer could be. And from that year on, Santa and his team managed to deliver all of the gifts in record time allowing an extra hour to cuddle with Mrs. Claus before a roaring fire and dream of Christmases yet to come.
